Which microscope components do I need, and which can I do without?


Generally, you will need all the components of a microscope but you can do away with a few or one component given that will not affect the result of a particular examination. A filter holder is a swing-out circular carrier, or C-shaped frame, attached to the under side of the condenser body. It is used for reducing light intensity or introducing special lightning characteristics. However, with today's digital colour imaging, coloured filters are not used that often.
